Antimicrobial Activities of Conducting Polymers and Their Composites

چکیده
Conducting polymers, mainly polyaniline (PANI) and polypyrrole (PPY) with positive charges bind to the negatively charged bacterial membrane interfere activities. After this initial electrostatic adherence, conducting polymers might partially penetrate interact other intracellular biomolecules. can form polymer composites metal, metal oxides, nanoscale carbon materials as a new class of antimicrobial agents enhanced properties. The accumulation elevated oxygen reactive species (ROS) from polymers-metal nanoparticles has harmful effects induces cell death. Among such ROS, hydroxyl radical one unpaired electron in structure is most effective it oxidize any biomolecules, leading Future endeavors should focus on combination their antibiotics, small peptides, natural molecules Such arsenals low cytotoxicity are expected eradicate ESKAPE pathogens: Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter spp.

متن کاملCationic Antimicrobial Polymers and Their Assemblies
Cationic compounds are promising candidates for development of antimicrobial agents. Positive charges attached to surfaces, particles, polymers, peptides or bilayers have been used as antimicrobial agents by themselves or in sophisticated formulations. The main positively charged moieties in these natural or synthetic structures are quaternary ammonium groups, resulting in quaternary ammonium c...
متن کاملApplications of conducting polymers and their issues in biomedical engineering.
Conducting polymers (CPs) have attracted much interest as suitable matrices of biomolecules and have been used to enhance the stability, speed and sensitivity of various biomedical devices. Moreover, CPs are inexpensive, easy to synthesize and versatile because their properties can be readily modulated by (i) surface functionalization techniques and (ii) the use of a wide range of molecules tha...
متن کاملSolitonic States in Organic Conducting Polymers
In a typical solitonic distribution, the soliton density is distributed over the entire moleculeand the present work shows how its density can be decomposed into solitonic and antisolitoniccomponents. It is found that there exists a unique electron as soliton over the anionicnanoconductor, while there are many other solitons and antisolitons. The solitonic states are furtherdecomposed to the ca...
